Epoxy MIO Antirust Primer

This epoxy MIO primer (epoxy MIO coatings), which is short for micaceous iron oxide primer, is a kind of antirust (rust proofing) paint with two components. This epoxy micaceous iron oxide primer is made from epoxy resin, scale like micaceous iron oxide, antirust additive, and curing agent, etc. The epoxy MIO primer (epoxy MIO coatings) features scaly pigment with high pigment volume concentration. So that after film forming, this coating is rendered in parallel overlapping sequence, a structure similar to that of scales of fish. As a result, the epoxy MIO primer (epoxy MIO coatings) is with the merits of high seal ability, strong heat and corrosion resistance, and great compatibility. It can be applied to the zinc rich primer for enhanced sealing quality and antirust performance of ships, containers, bridges, gas tanks, harbor machinery, concrete and various steel structures, and so on.

Surface Treatment The shop primer coated surfaces require secondary rust removal, which is to reach the Grade St3 of the Sweden derusting standard. For the zinc rich primer painted surfaces that are long exposed to air, get rid of white rust, grease, and all impurities before applying the two component epoxy MIO antirust primer. The chalked surface should be grinded and kept free of dust.
Operating Conditions The substrate temperature should be 3℃ higher than the dew point, and the relative humidity should be less than 85%. If the substrate temperature is below 5℃ and reaction of epoxy and curing agent stops, the epoxy MIO antirust primer can not be applied.
Preceding Coats Epoxy zinc rich primer, inorganic zinc rich primer, epoxy zinc rich shop primer, epoxy zinc primer, epoxy iron red shop primer, inorganic zinc silicate shop primer, and more.
Subsequent Coats Epoxy thick slurry cover paint, chlorinated rubber finish paint, acrylic finish paint, polyurethane finish paint, acrylic polyurethane finish paint, and others.
